Study It.

Learn to write an essay and change your life! The demands of college writing, such as closer readings of texts, moving away from standard 5-paragraph essays and onto writing that contains more original thought, and the ability to clearly synthesize ideas, is paramount to future success as a student and a writer. Learning the techniques to write a good, speedy essay will improve your grades in every subject, as well as prepare you for timed tests.

I will work with you or your student to develop a writing plan that helps you to organize your thoughts everytime you sit down to write, while developing your writing style to be more in line with both high school and college expectations.

Prepare for It.

College applications require letters from applicants that explain the student’s goals.Writing a killer essay is a great way to add pizazz to an application and give it the attention it deserves! In fact, a great letter can make the difference between being noticed and just being one of the herd. While the essay is optional at some colleges, virtually all of the University of California schools still require it.

I can show you strategies that will help you write an entertaining, yet clear, cohesive, and concise application letter that will stand out from the rest.

Discuss It.

Writing groups allow writing students a chance to gain valuable feedback from their writing partners, as well as input from a qualified instructor.

  • Students meet in groups of five, with the instructor as a moderator, to brainstorm, write, critique and edit a piece of writing.

  • Groups are age-based and each participant is free to approach the group with any type of writing, although every effort is made to place same-genre writers together.

  • While students often use these groups to work on academic writing projects for school, adult writers tend to favor the group experience when discussing creative writing or business projects.

  • Both groups find the feedback from other writers invaluable.

  • Book a writing group appointment, now. Our summer groups are starting June 8, 2024, and they fill up fast!
